How long do they last and do we need to stay for the whole meet?
- Appx. 2.5 to 3 hours.
- 6 and under swimmers typically do not compete in anything past the 25 backstroke, which typically falls in the middle of the meet. You are absolutely free to leave after their finish their events, but you MUST check with the coaching staff to ensure they are not entered in a relay which falls at the end of the meet.
- Swimmers 7 and up typically swim the entire meet
-
How will I know what events my child is swimming?
- A heat sheet will be emailed for your review before arriving at the meet. It is highly encourage you print a hard copy to have at the meet and it helps to highlight your swimmer within the heat sheet.

What happens during a thunderstorm at a meet?
- A meet may be temporarily delayed. 20 min delay for thunder, 30 min delay for lightning.
- Families will be asked to clear the pool deck and return to their cars until it is safe to restart the meet. Games, books, and movies in the car are especially good distractions during these times.
- If a meet has progressed past the halfway point (individual medleys or “IMs” completed) and cannot resume that evening, both teams must agree but a meet can be considered complete at this point with the events to that point being counted.
- If it has not reached the end of the IM events, then it may be rescheduled for another evening.
- We will send updates on weather delays through the Swimtopia ALERTS. Download the Swimtopia app and enable the ALERT function in your settings to receive these alert messages as texts rather than email.
- The pool, lazy river, and baby pool are NOT open for recreational swimming during meets, but after home meets, we stay to eat pizza and play in the pool.
